Hello and welcome!

If we haven’t met, I am Hannah. Wife to Steven and mom to four young adults ranging from 14-20. My heritage is deeply rooted in growing, raising, and preparing food from scratch. I spent the early years of my childhood digging potatoes on our family’s potato farm, and frequently visited my grandparent’s cattle ranch where we helped feed the cows, milk the goats, and gather eggs. As a child, I could often be found scooting a chair up to the kitchen counter to cook with my mom (see photo below). Which to this day, is one of my favorite things.

Over the years, I’ve become a passionate fresh-milled flour and sourdough bread enthusiast (thank you grandma, for igniting that spark.). I spent many years teaching hands on sourdough workshops and am currently taking a break to spend time documenting and sharing my recipes here on Substack.

I am passionate about empowering women in the simple rhyhms of homemaking and the kitchen.

When I’m not washing dishes, you can find me in my garden, sitting with a cup of tea on the porch, walking the trails near our house, or spending time with my family.

Thank you so much for supporting my work and I truly hope you enjoy these nourishing recipes.

Fun facts about me:

I am an avid tea drinker, and almost always have a mug in my hand

In the 1990’s, at the age of 9 or 10, I published a monthly newsletter called “The Rosebud Gazette”. I typed it up on an old macintosh computer and printed and mailed it out to my friends and cousins for the cost of stamps. (I’ll have to dig one up and share it sometime.)

Growing up, I aspired to be Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman - I had a cabinet in my room with herbal and homeopathic remedies I would prescribe to my “patients” aka, siblings.

I feel most at home in the mountains, but have lived near the ocean for 20+ years. I appreciate both and find nature to be where I thrive.
