My Favorite Sourdough Breadmaking Supplies
After 12 years of testing sourdough bread making products: these are my tried and true favorites.
If you have attended an online or in person event with me in the past, I often mention my favorite sourdough products throughout the workshops. I have gathered all of my resources and posted them below as clickable links.
But first, I’d like to highlight two online shops that I go back to when wanting to source high quality items or gifts for sourdough baker friends. These are not sponsors, I just truly love every item I have tried from both shops.
Haselmayer Goods
My friend Liz and her family have curated a lovely shop with handmade cotton rope coil proofing baskets, wooden sourdough stirrers + whisks, and while you’re shopping their site, I highly recommend trying their amazing organic tea blends (the chai is my favorite).
The lard dish soap and natural sea sponges are a must-have household staple, as well. They make doing the dishes feel a bit more luxurious!

Rosehill Sourdough
Rosehill Sourdough founder, Mike, was the head of engineering at Ooni pizza ovens before starting his own company and developing the most amazing sourdough products.
The wood pulp baskets, reusable silicone bread baking mats, and spatulas are three of my favorite finds. Specifically the silicone baking mats. In the past, I steered away from them because it felt weird to be baking bread at 500º on silicone, but after some research, I found all parchment paper is sprayed with silicone. Even the “clean” unbleached brands.
These silicone bread mats make baking sourdough so convenient, and I have noticed a significant difference in how evenly the bottom of the loaves bake when using this product

And now for the product list. I try to steer away from Amazon as much as possible, but when sourcing items like the scoring blades, you can get a pack of 100 for under $10, which is much more cost effective then purchasing on another site, and will last you a very long time.
Many of the items I recommend below are from Breadtopia. This is another family owned shop that I have been shopping since I started baking twelve years ago. They do an amazing job sourcing high quality products that last. Their rattan bannetons are going to be the most cost effective of the three proofing basket options. I appreciate that they ethically source their baskets from Indonesia and have noticed a big difference in the quality vs. other rattan proofing baskets on the market. Make sure you add a cotton liner to your cart if you go with that option.
